  1. Hi Craig,

Do you want to completely erase the old one and install the new one? Or keep the data of the old one and install the new one?

Can you boot Linux Mint 19.1 from the USB thumb drive?

  2. Yes I want to start over again for a clean install, I have a USB with 19.2 and can boot from that.

  3. If you don’t want to keep your data and start all over, then select “Erase disk and install Linux Mint” when you install Linux Mint.

Note that your hard drive will be wiped clean.

  4. Ok thanks I’ll give it a shot a little later.

  5. can’t get my thumb drive to boot, put the dvd in and it did the wipe thing and reinstalled but I ave no internet so I can’t update anything. It will show my thumb drive but I don’t know how to make it run and load mint 19.2 as an upgrade.

  6. You can’t upgrade the Linux Mint installation image (ISO file that you downloaded) from 19.1 to 19.2.

You will have to download the ISO file for Linux Mint 19.2 in order to make a bootable USB thumb drive of it.

Once you make a bootable USB thumb drive of Linux Mint, insert it on your computer and boot from it.

You may need to enable UEFI mode from the BIOS of your computer, if the USB thumb drive does not boot after making it bootable.

  7. If you can Linux Mint 19.1 from the USB thumb drive, then you can upgrade it to Linux Mint 19.2 when you have internet connection.

To do that, open theĀ Update Manager app and click on the Refresh button to check for updates. If there are any new updates available, apply them. Then, click on Edit > Upgrade to Linux Mint 19.2 Tina andĀ follow the instructions.
